Nudity / NSFW / Terry / Lara / Fashion
I will try to keep this from breaching on preaching. However, I find that these days with everybody becoming more and more desensitized, it’s tough to grab the attention of the average passerby without taking brash measure. This is not safe for work, by the way. I would like to just touch on nudity in the fashion industry; specifically insofar it shows up in editorials. I understand that sometimes to sell the clothes you must sell what is underneath them as well. Sex, nudity, private parts, all harness the attention of a viewer in an effort to get a reaction from the viewer about the image, whether it be a natural attraction, or repulsion, or a causal factor of controversy (pronounced con-TROV-ersy in England).
While many harp on how many times the breasts of Lara Stone have appeared in ads, eds, and the like is merely one hint that nudity is taking over fashion. Soon, nobody will be wearing clothes. While that might not seem all bad to some, I’d just like to state that it’s utterly ridiculous that designers and magazines must resort to this as a way of hawking a product. We, the people, have become so incredibly desensitized to seeing partial to full-on nudity (thanks Terry Richardson) that it’s almost the norm to see a boob or two in an editorial. And recently, we’ve been introduced to the penis. Holy guys, I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready for this. The editorials featured below were mostly handpicked editorials that have appeared in magazines in the past month. Really? We can’t even think of an idea to keep naked out of circulation for just one month? Many of us are afraid to speak out. Frankly, it doesn’t bother me. I take this as fashion is moving in a new direction. The era of no-clothes. The absurd thing will be how they will manage to convince us that their naked is better than what we already have, making us purchase it from the high-end designers. I thought the 80’s was slowly making a reappearance? On the bright side, I suppose I’ll be saving plenty of money this way… What do you think?
