Even though Martin left his maison years ago, this is something that will be right up my high street. Maison Martin Margiela just announced their collaboration with H&M, which will be released to a tent conga line of fans who camp outside of H&M’s the world over on November 15 of this year. I’m not usually a fan of high street collections, because bloggers make an event of it. They camp out. They are the first through the door. They take pictures of themselves wearing it all. They tell people they were invited to a hush-hush press release. They buy a pair of earrings. They write about it for days on their blog until a reader in the tent behind them calls out said blogger for staging a fake press release. Not to mention after buying something they tote the fact that they own something designer. What to expect: cleft-toe boots, lab coats, and teen bloggers posing for phony press junkets looking like the Dharma Initiative.
