Winner of most interesting person of the past decade goes to Elle Muliarchyk. While many may debate this, I first must flatter Elle Muliarchyk before you get angsty. First of all, as a landed immigrant-model, Elle was a hit, but it wasn’t what she wanted. She turned her sights onto creation(this broad term encapsulating photography, art, design, modeling, and filming) and hasn’t even paused to send me an autograph. She’s much accomplished, starting with the whole rogue in expensive gowns foray to dressing religious icons in couture to a gallery showing at NYC’s Milk to doing a short film for the NY Times. She is only 24 years old. I honestly view her among the greats of this and past eras and her skill and heart have thus far been unmatched. I was granted the pleasure of her time, and was able to probe the genius that I believe in many ways she is. You can read Part I & Part II. In other news, I sold my car.
“I’m completely absorbed into my current project - a short movie for the New York Times. Shooting in 2 weeks so I’ve been preparing for a month already! Hope you’re well! xx”
“I’m just so busy that I don’t even know what my name is anymore…
But here are a couple of my recent photos. It will be a 16-page story in the next Ponytail magazine ( a pretty cool UK mag, hope I’ll make it even cooler! :-) I’ve been shooting it for the past 2.5 months all over the East Coast with my two ‘adopted children’. A Russian girl and a boy from Kyrgyzstan. We have all kinds of crazy adventures with that.”
“It’s an incredible journey, really. Today I spent two hours nose-to-nose to a body of Mother Cabrini - first American Saint - patron of Immigrants. I tried to get a perfect moment (when the glass coffin wasn’t swarmed by the crowds of devout people and the nuns who guard the shrine) to make precise measurements of the statue that was hanging right above the coffin, so that the designer can use for the divine couture piece. It was so eerie - I could not shake off the feeling that the body was moving now and then! (I’m attaching the picture for you the result of my measuring!).”
