Elisabeth Ouni Interview

An amazing Belgian once told me, “You only live once”. This girl went by many names, the most popular being Ouni. I wanted to make my first live audio interview somebody special, so after I’d been following her blog, No Balls, No Glory; A Polaroid Story, for quite some time, I’d decided that she would be a great personality to start off the new year (I had the idea back in December 2009). However, I was very pleasantly surprised by the creator behind the creations. Ouni was very well articulated and was (despite her comments) a very social person. I’m sure you’ll soon see.

Ouni has slept in tents, squished her way to the front row, checked all her exits, and planned as much as possible to get the perfect polaroid of a multitude of hip-hop artists. She’s shot N.E.R.D’s Pharrell Williams, Kid Cudi, Eve, The Roots, Busta Rhymes, and Snoop Dogg, among others. Besides this venture into a more passionate side of music, her efforts have brought her many opportunities. She recently was involved in a video for the Ones 2 Watch called The Visitors. How she finds the time to accomplish so many things is beyond me, but it’s truly an inspiration.

“You really have to do what you want. I know that you have to work, but maybe you can use your work to do what you want, eventually… If you have an idea, and it slumbers too long in your head, just do it. If it fails, it fails, but you learned from the experience.” All photos / Elisabeth Ouni.
