Symbols of Success Part Two

The list of influencers and connoisseurs continues. Don’t forget to have a look at Part One + Part Three.

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen // Needless of explanation, these two have been in the public eye since the age of nine months. They have matured and made the world theirs, with people following their every move as twins. Mary-Kate was awarded the status of fashion icon by the New York Times for pioneering her signature hobo look. They’ve since released a book together including interviews with a multitude of fashion icons and inspirations entitled Influence. They also continue to design for their clothing line The Row.

“Our ultimate goal is to stay in business. We are not here with a specific plan. That’s kind of how our entire career has evolved. We will figure things out as we go along.”

Stanley Kubrick // A genius of film direction, all he made were classics until his death in 1999. He was praised for helming such masterpieces as 2001: A Space Odyssey (which revolutionized the use of effects in movies and paved the way for Star Wars), A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, Lolita, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut. His films were always the subject of controversy and begged the viewer to look beyond.

“I never learned anything at all in school and didn’t read a book for pleasure until I was 19 years old.”

Princess Diana // The ultimate sacrifice for her fame, Princess Diana was loved the world over because she let the world in. She was so fragile, but empowered the world with her love and her work. A real tribute to British royalty (which we Canadians still recognize), Princess Di was the People’s Princess, and she will forever remain so.

“I don’t go by the rule book… I lead from the heart, not the head.”
