What’s with this new frontier of flash blasting? The washed out look seems to be making it’s comeback. It made its start with Terry Richardson and Juergen Teller. But now it seems other photographers are adopting this idea of on-camera flash type party-ography. Is that because film cameras are almost obsolete and now the on-camera flash to film - polaroid-type photos - are harder to emulate? Well don’t ask me. But it’s sort of something that I’m starting to dig. The whole hipster ideal really employs this sort of thing, with party photography blogs popping up left and right. Is this the future for fashion photography? The Marc Jacobs ads shot by Juergen Teller are a new example of this new wave. Fashion photography is now breaking away from the seamlessly lit, mannequin-esque photos into the more “natural” realm. We’ll see where it leads us… Oh, photos are by Joel Rhodin, by the way.
