Imme Visser Interview
Imme Visser. She’s an up-and-comer from the Netherlands that will hopefully take the world by storm. There are enough sassy models already; the time has come for the polite and quirky models to shine. The ones who can bring you attitude, but never hesitate to say thank you profusely. I always believe you should thank people who’ve done you a favour. Imme Visser is that type of girl. Her name means honeybee. She’s Dutch. Bound to be successful. If we work hard for the things we want, anything is possible. Okay, question period. And if this doesn’t suffice check out Imme’s interview with my good friend Pony here.

Trey Taylor: Can you please fill this out?
Name: Imme Visser
Age: 18
Occupation: Parttime model, parttime idealist
Currently Resides: Oosterbeek, the Netherlands (that’s where Esmee Denters comes from, too, though we don’t really care about her here)
Favourite Song: Muse – Supermassive Black Hole
Trey Taylor: Imme, can you enlighten us a bit about your childhood? What was it like growing up in the Netherlands?
Imme Visser: Good J I grew up in a little street, almost an alley, surrounded by nature. I remember the river Rhine sometimes being a problem, when it had rained a lot the water came up to our houses and we had to go everywhere by boat. I also remember when it was my mother’s birthday, they had to go and get all the guests by boat and I really wanted to come but they wouldn’t let me because I was too small, haha.

IV: Autumn 2007 I think. It was with Toeps, a really sweet Dutch photographer who ‘discovered’ me on a forum and asked me on my blog. I was supernervous and asked my best friend to come along to support me, but I think it went okay. I do look very young on those pictures though, there’s not enough confidence.
TT: So basically the story goes: a. You posted photos on your blog. b. Very nice girl Toeps sent you a message requesting a shoot. What did you think at this point?
IV: Haha yes! I didn’t read this question yet, haha. I was a typical girl, I thought: ‘yay, someone thinks I’m beautiful!’ So I went. I didn’t think ahead.

IV: Hm. I do not work every day, but on a work-day it’s like this: It’s 6 in the morning and I have to get up but I don’t want to, because I love my bed. Then I’m off and by 8 I’ll be in the train to Amsterdam, where things usually take place. In Amsterdam I always get lost first, because I’m a horrible map-reader. Then 2 hours of hair and make-up and yawning. I like shoots though, if I’m energetic enough I can just really put all of me in it. It is hard work, yes. I always feel very tired and empty after a shoot, because of all the energy and the movement and standing in awkward positions and such.
TT: Who, thus far in your career, has been the most interesting person you’ve met?
IV: That’s a tough one. I’d say Toeps, because she’s so different from all the others, in a positive way. Modeling world can be very fake, sometimes I don’t like it at all, you never know who likes you and who doesn’t. But some people are just very genuine, and those are always a pleasure to work with. I should also mention Oswin, the personal trainer who’s always happy.

IV: In my head it’s linked to the good and the bad. I really like clothes, it’s a big hobby of mine to combine clothes in a nice way and to look different every way. That’s the nice version of the word. I do not particularly like the fashion world, as I mentioned in the last question. People are playing games.
TT: What would you say to all the younger girls and boys out there who want to get into modeling?
IV: Be yourself. Be careful who you’re friends with and don’t gossip, because people you gossip about will know. This sounds a bit harsh, I’ve noticed, but it’s just very important to stay close to yourself. Because fashion world will try to change you.

IV: I love a lot of things and I would like to experience more! I love all creative things, I write A LOT, I sing, I want to make little movies and I want to act, I want to write a book, I want to do something with animals, I want to make the world a better place, I want to be happy, I want to travel more and I want to love. So much to do J
TT: Leave us with something inspirational.
IV: What is the one thing that truly, truly makes you happy? Do it. g
